Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level strategic and academic leadership and effective and efficient management and administration to the Institute of Advanced and Applied Research.
- Provide strategic leadership for the University’s Institute for Advanced and Applied Research.
- Consolidate strategic research areas (including Green Hydrogen and other emerging thematic fields).
- Maintain the autonomy of existing specialised centres such as Multidisciplinary Reseach Centre and Sam Nujoma Marine and Coastal Resources Research Centre.
Requirements
- The candidate should at least be at the rank of a Senior Lecturer, hold a PhD and have leadership experience in higher education, coupled with at least six (6) years’ academic experience, of which four (4) years should be at a management level.
- Proven track record of driving innovation and commercialisation; high-level research, teaching, and community service in a university environment and a good track record of resource mobilisation.
- Experience in leading and growing large research entities, building industry partnerships; managing applied, multidisciplinary research.
- Proven exceptional scientific leadership, networking, communication, marketing, and presentation skills.
- Evidence of commitment towards realising the university’s vision, mission, and strategic goals through high standards of research, resource mobilisation and community services must be provided.
- The successful candidate should be a strong individual who commands respect from his/her peers, and has outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, combined with excellent digital fluency, organising, planning, analytical, fundraising, administrative and managerial skills and an understanding of the national and international roles of universities.
