Key Performance Areas:

Vessel Operations

• Taking command and management of the vessel and personnel
• Navigation a nd vessel deployment for operations
• Ensure that the vessels are fully equipped at all times
• Responsible for onboard training and safety

Marine and Mining Operations

• Adheres to safety and operational procedures, standards and Company requirements:
• Checksand maintains Company documentation as required by the relevant authorities and policies;
• Optimises the effectiveness of the vessel to maximize productivity and time utilisation by managing onboard business processes;
• Safety Management;
• Monitors adherence onboard to relevant legislation and systems including me international Safety Management Code. OHSAS 1800L Environmental Management Systems, and Occupational Health and Safety Act;
• Monitors the application of the relevant rules and regulations pertaining to the security and confidential material.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Valid STCW 95 (Deck Officer Class 1) Masters Foreign Gang / Mining endorsed Certificate cf Competency
• Eight (8) years relevant experience which Includes Five (5) years minimum at Chief Navigating Officer level
• Valid GMDSS Certificate
• Marine mining experience would be an advantage
• SAP knowledge would be an advantage
