Located in the Political/Economic/Commercial (PEC) Section and supervised by the Political/Economic Officer, the Political Specialist seeks to strengthen the U.S. Embassy’s understanding of Namibia’s government, political parties, civil society organizations, culture, and current events. By undertaking original research and developing and maintaining a range of contacts at senior levels, the incumbent analyzes trends and developments of interest to the U.S. Government in Namibia’s political spheres, producing high-quality written reports and providing detailed briefings to Embassy leadership. In his/her responsibilities as a Grants Officer Representative, the incumbent reviews grant applications, interfaces with intra-Embassy grants selection committees, administers grants in the State Assistance Management System (SAMS) Overseas online system, conducts monitoring and evaluation of existing grants, and completes close-out activities for terminating grants. The position has no supervisory responsibility.
