Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the development, formulation, and implementation of the company’s HR strategies and policies.
- Review and ensure that IR Policies and collective agreements comply with legislation and support the company’s needs
- Analyze internal and external IR environments, evaluate their impact, and recommend plans to mitigate any negative effects
- Conduct regular climate surveys, assess industry trends, and adopt best practices in IR
- Facilitate consultations between management and employees, and represent the company in conciliation and arbitration proceedings.
- Coordinate and manage the company’s training and development strategies to meet current and future HR needs.
- Oversee negotiations with unions, review agreements, handle strike actions, and ensure compliance with recognition agreements
- Manage payroll operations, recruitment, staff movements, and overall HR administration
- Conduct benchmarking HR Systems, provide policy interpretation advice, and compile monthly HR statistics.
- Administer employee fringe benefits, performance management processes, and ensure consistent application of performance appraisals conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
- Supervise direct reports, identify their training needs, and manage resource acquisition and budgeting
- Develop and implement employee engagement and retention strategies to enhance job satisfaction and reduce turnover
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and address workplace safety issues
- Oversee succession planning and career development initiatives to prepare employees for future roles.
- Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
- Develop and maintain HR information systems and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality
- Implement and monitor diversity and inclusion programs to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture
Requirements
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field (NQF Level 7)
- At least 08 years’ experience in Human Resources environment, including general HR functions, with a minimum of 4 years in a supervisory or management role
- Sound knowledge of employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary process, and employee engagement.
- Familiarity with the construction industry is an advantage
- Proficiency in VIP Sage HRIS, Payroll Systems and Excel
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
