Advisor: Employee Relations (ER)
A vacancy exists for an Advisor: Employee Relations (ER), reporting to the Manager: Employee Relations.
The primary purpose of this role is the responsibility for enhancing a harmoniously and well-disciplined environment by pro-actively developing and implementing leading best practices and initiatives to enhance the relationships between key stakeholders and compliance with all relevant legislations and law. Ensures compliance with relevant policies, collective agreements and legislative requirements. Provides advice and guidance to employees and line managers with regards to all employee relations matters.
Key performance areas
• Actively participating in creating a healthy and safe working environment;
• Participating and assisting HR management with the drafting of departmental and sectional strategies;
• Reviewing and analysing labour and industrial trends and develop actions to ensure optimisation of processes and ensure performance standards are met;
• Preparing and submitting arguments for cases to be heard at arbitration and conciliation:
• Providing effective employee relations and other applicable labour relations administrative and advisory support during consultation and collective bargaining meetings:
• Ensuring that all consultation processes are effectively carried out and in line with Company procedure by arranging Company and trade union consultation meetings. taking minutes and providing the necessary support and advice to management in preparation for and during these meetings;
• Coordinating and arranging stakeholder engagement meetings;
• Providing training and guidance on labour law, ER procedures, applicable collective agreements and other applicable legislations to the operation;
• Ensuring proper documentation of files, e.g. disciplinary record, minutes of meetings, etc.;
• Proactively identifying and recommending ER process improvements.
Minimum qualifications
• Degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline;
• Postgraduate Diploma in Labour Relations Management will be an added advantage;
• Five years’ post-graduation experience as a Human Resources Generalist in a unionised environment of which three years should have been in an Employee Relations Practitioner role:
• Valid Code B driver’s licence.
