Deputy Director
Minimum requirement: A B Degree at NQF level 7 in the following field of study: Nature Conservation, Wildlife Management, Protected Areas Management, Conservation Biology, Environmental Management or related biodiversity management field, plus nine (9) years appropriate experience.
Additional requirements: Completed courses and experience in Project Area Management, financial management and computer skills, dynamic and able to set up systems, leadership/managerial competences namely: direction, result driven leadership, managing people and organizational transformation, solid writing, communication and presentation skills; and possession of a driver’s license is a prerequisite.
Job description: Coordinate support activities related to management and administration of Protected Areas and Conservancies. Coordinate and support the management of Landscape/Complexes and Transfrontier Conservation Areas at national level. Assist the Director with the management of external and internal support projects and programmes for wildlife and National Parks in the directorate. Coordinate support activities, training programmes and mitigation/preventative measures for human wildlife conflict management. Coordinate training programme for staff members in the Directorate of Wildlife and National Parks. Facilitate data management, record keeping, communication and the provision of logistics and equipment in the directorate. Facilitate the training and registration of Professional Hunters, Hunting Guides and Master Hunting Guides. Compile monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the Directorate of Wildlife and National Parks. Assist the Director in the monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities of the Directorate of Wildlife and National Parks. Facilitate the management and accounting of financial resources in the Directorate of Wildlife and National Parks. Provide overall supervision, administration and coordination of wildlife support services.
