Credit and Collections Officer
Primary purpose of position
Ensuring the monthly loan repayments are collected from all the clients, to take the necessary steps to collect any arrears, list defaulting clients with the relevant Credit Bureau and initiate further legal action where there is a reasonable chance of loan recoupment.
To ensure the timeous submission of Credit Life policy claims against the insurance and estate.
To ensure that the PostFin loan applications are properly evaluated, analysed and approved within the stipulated timelines in accordance with the Company’s Credit Policy.
Key Performance Areas
- Perform loan evaluations in accordance with the Company’s Credit Policy and as per the performance standards set by the CEO.
- Controlling the day-to-day collections of the repayments from clients in accordance with the performance standards set by the CEO; in order to prevent clients from falling in arrears.
- Controlling overdue payments in accordance with the performance standards set by the CEO to ensure that the Company’s impairment ratio remains below the average Industry rate and in line with the Budget & Business Plan.
- Ensure the timeous submission of claims against the Insurance and the Estate to minimize impairments and maximize recoveries.
- Handing over clients to the Company’s Debt Collecting Agencies and Lawyers as per the Company’s policies & guidelines.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
- A thorough knowledge of credit & collections in the Financial services industry.
- A sound knowledge of banking products and services.
- Incumbent must be well acquainted with PostFin’s products and services.
- Excellent communication skills: English language proficiency is required (other languages would be an added advantage).
- Computer literate with experience in Excel.
- Analytical and logical thinker who is attentive to detail.
Personality requirements
Emotionally mature, outgoing, self-motivated, responsive, assertive, ability to handle pressure, honest, sincere, innovative, able to work without supervision.
Educational and experience requirements
- Grade 12 (minimum) any additional accounting and/or banking related qualifications would be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in the Financial services industry, specifically in the area of Collections (legal and pre- legal). Financial Analysis (evaluation and recommendation of credit facilities) as well as insurance claims.
Other
- Driving License (Code 8).
- Must be willing to use own transport for work purposes (a vehicle and transport allowance will be included in the package).
- Must be willing to work overtime at short notice.
- Must be a Namibian citizen.
