TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
The Technical Director is responsible for the development and implementation of systems and controls to enable the effective functioning of all the sections in the Aircraft Maintenance Organization (including remote outstations) and ensure maximum availability of aircraft and related equipment. As Technical Director you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, overseeing and directing the maintenance activities. You will drive improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance planning and control, ensuring safety, operational, customer satisfaction and financial objectives are met or exceeded.
Job duties:
- Develop and manage maintenance production
- Set annual plans and budgets for resources, spares and software programs
- Provide informed cost analysis for new contracts and ensure strict control of these budgets post contract award for implementation and monthly maintenance operating costs for the aircraft and personnel allocated
- Control and manage the accounting and administration systems and resources to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures
- Develop and implement the servicing strategy and standards to comply with international best practice
- Manage and control in-field support services to deployed aircraft and personnel in terms of routine spares support and AOG scenarios as defined by the SLA
- Develop apprentices and training program for future AME’s
- Develop and oversight of ATO including aircraft type training and instructors
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and participate in the negotiations with suppliers to achieve optimal aircraft, logistics arrangement and spares deals / packages
- Provide insight into fleet additions and sales
- Regular travel to operational bases required (local and international)
- Management of all facilities
Minimum experience and qualifications required:
- Qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
- Proven track record of airworthiness management roles in the aviation industry, demonstrating successful delivery and leadership capabilities
- Strong team building and communications skills, fostering a positive organisational culture and delivering continuous improvement
- Customer-focussed with proven ability to achieve outcomes that meet customer requirements within contracted performance and planned commercial parameters
- Sound knowledge of the aviation industry and its safety and compliance requirements
- Sound business and commercial acumen with astute decision making to optimise business outcomes while adhering to safety and compliance requirements
- Good influencing skills and ability to build relationship with executive stakeholders and exercise company values
- Confident, tenacious and assertive with effective negotiation skills
- 15+ years of aviation management experience in airworthiness or maintenance and a demonstrable knowledge thereof
- Be qualified to be accountable for Continued Airworthiness in an organisation that operates business jet, turboprop and rotary aircraft.
