GRADE 3 ENGLISH TEACHER – Eduagate Academy

Most Namibian private schools require a Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant degree with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Registration with the Namibia Professional Teachers' Union (NPTU) or the Teachers' Union of Namibia (TUN) is usually expected. Some schools may also require proficiency in English at C2 level and classroom experience.

Daily tasks include planning and delivering literacy lessons aligned with the Namibian curriculum, assessing student progress through tests and assignments, and maintaining communication with parents. Teachers also supervise break periods, participate in staff meetings, and often contribute to extracurricular activities. Classroom management and creating engaging learning materials are essential parts of the role.

Private schools in Namibia typically have smaller class sizes, more resources, and greater parental involvement compared to public institutions. Teachers often experience higher accountability standards and may work longer hours including weekends for events. However, private schools usually offer more autonomy in teaching methods and faster decision-making processes.

Benefits vary by institution but often include paid annual leave aligned with school terms, partial or full medical aid contributions, and participation in pension schemes such as the Government Institutions Pension Fund. Some schools provide housing allowances or subsidized accommodation, particularly in rural areas. Professional development opportunities are increasingly common as retention strategies.

Experienced teachers can advance to senior teacher, department head, or deputy principal positions within their schools. Some transition into curriculum development roles at the National Institute for Educational Development or pursue further qualifications to become education specialists. Others move into private tutoring, educational consulting, or establish their own schools.

Highlight any experience with the Cambridge or Namibian curriculum, practical classroom management skills, and familiarity with diverse learner backgrounds including multilingual environments. Include references from previous supervising teachers or principals, and demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development. A well-crafted cover letter showing knowledge of the specific school's values and community will strengthen your application.
