SENIOR PHARMACIST GRADE 6 – Windhoek Central Hospital

You need a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from a recognized institution and must be registered with the Pharmacy Council of Namibia. Senior Grade 6 roles typically require several years of post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy practice. Additional certifications in clinical pharmacy or supply chain management are advantageous.

You will oversee pharmaceutical dispensing, manage inventory and procurement of medicines, supervise junior pharmacy staff, and provide clinical pharmacy services including ward rounds and medicines information. Senior pharmacists also ensure compliance with Namibia's Essential Medicines List and participate in drug utilization reviews. You may be involved in training pharmacy students and interns.

Progression follows the Public Service Act grading system, with opportunities to advance to Principal Pharmacist and Chief Pharmacist roles. Specialization routes include clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical services management, or medicines regulatory affairs. Some senior pharmacists transition to Ministry of Health headquarters or international health organizations operating in Namibia.
