PERSONAL LINES TEAM LEADER

The Personal Lines Division has a position available for a Team Leader who will be based in Windhoek Strong leadership and management skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships will be required. The successful candidate must have good communication and negotiation skills, with a ’can-do’ attitude.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The position calls for a person who will provide strong underwriting expertise and mentoring to assist the Personal Lines Underwriting team operationally and to embed and enhance processes that support profitable growth through applying proven underwriting principles. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing team performance and requires of the incumbent to embrace and encourage a culture of learning and growing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be expected to perform (but not limited to) the following duties:
- Allocation of work and management of workflow for all PL Underwriters.
- Managing the standard of delivering daily work inline with standard operating procedures and service e els
- Monitor quality of work produced and provide leadership/coaching if necessary to encourage learning and decisionmaking.
- Planning and organising in order to manage another ad-hoc day to day operations, processes and team inputs.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key staff and key stakeholders.
- Ability to influence and get the buy-in of subordinates.
- Dealing with staff issues and resource optimisation, including building expertise to
- Ability to perform under pressure and maintain a resilient approach in spite of setbacks.
- Communication skills, understanding, speaking and writing of English and Afrikaans.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 qualification with acceptable marks.
- Proven experience managing a team of people.
- Two – four years experience in an Underwriting environment.
- Certificate of Proficiency (COP) or equivalent.
- Computer literacy (MS Word. Excel and PowerPoint) at an intermediate proficiency level.
- Thorough technical, product and wording knowledge of Personal Lines products.
