A minimum of a Grade 12 certificate with strong passes in English and Mathematics is typically required. Many employers prefer candidates with a certificate or diploma in Records Management, Health Information Management, or Public Administration from recognized Namibian institutions like NIMT or UNAM.
What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of a Donor Records Clerk?
You will maintain accurate donor databases, update personal and donation history records, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive medical information. Daily tasks include data entry, filing, responding to donor inquiries, and preparing reports for blood collection teams and management.
How does the work culture and environment differ in Namibian healthcare administration roles?
Namibian workplaces value punctuality, respect for hierarchy, and strong interpersonal relationships among colleagues. You can expect a collaborative environment where Afrikaans and English are commonly used, and where attention to detail is highly prized due to the critical nature of blood donor records.
What career progression opportunities exist for a Donor Records Clerk in Namibia?
With experience, you may advance to Senior Records Clerk, Records Supervisor, or Health Information Manager positions. Further studies in Health Information Management or Health Systems Management at UNAM can open doors to regional or national health administration roles.
What benefits are typically offered for administrative positions in Namibian healthcare institutions?
Benefits usually include annual leave of 21-30 days, medical aid contributions, and pension fund membership through GIPF or private schemes. Some institutions also provide housing allowances or transport subsidies, though this varies by employer and employment contract type.
How should I apply for a Donor Records Clerk position and what do Namibian employers look for?
Submit a detailed CV, certified copies of qualifications, and a cover letter highlighting your attention to detail and confidentiality awareness to the advertised address or online portal. Employers prioritize candidates with proven data management experience, computer literacy in MS Office, and a clean police clearance certificate due to the sensitive nature of donor information.
