You must also maintain accurate records of explosive usage and participate in post-blast inspections.
How does the work culture and shift system typically operate in Namibian mining operations?
Namibian mining operations commonly use rotational shift systems, often 2-4 weeks on and 1-2 weeks off, with 12-hour shifts. The work culture emphasizes strict adherence to safety protocols, teamwork, and respect for hierarchy. Accommodation is usually provided in mining camps, and alcohol-free policies are strictly enforced on site.
What career progression opportunities exist for Blaster Assistants in Namibia?
With experience and additional training, you can advance to become a licensed Blaster, then Senior Blaster or Blast Supervisor. Further progression may lead to roles such as Drill and Blast Coordinator or Mine Planner.
