Key Responsibilities
- Culinary Execution: Prepare and deliver high-quality dishes, specializing in thin crusty pizza, ribs, steaks, chips and russhians.
- Interim Leadership: Take full operational charge of the kitchen during the Kitchen Manager’s absence, supervising staff and managing shift workflows.
- Menu Innovation & Platters: Create new menu concepts, design event platters for live game days/events, and diversify our offerings.
- Stock & Inventory Management: Assist with ordering, receiving stock, control wastage and verify inventory counts.
- Hygiene & Safety: Enforce high standards of cleanliness, food safety and sanitization protocols across all areas.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven background as a Line Cook, Grill Cook, or Assistant Cook in a busy commercial kitchen, bar or pizzeria.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in hand-stretching pizza dough (machine), operating pizza ovens and precise meat-grilling (steaks/ribs).
- Leadership Capability: Confidence to manage staff, handle pressure, manage sports match rushes and problem-solve independently.
- Languages: Clear verbal fluency in English and/or Afrikaans to communicate with staff and front-of-house teams.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible shift structures, including late nights, weekends and peak public holiday sporting events.
