Role Purpose: This is a senior leadership role combining strategic concession oversight with hands-on lodge general management. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall performance of concession operations and the day-to-day management of the lodge, ensuring operational excellence, exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance, and sustainable stewardship of a unique desert environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and strategic oversight of concession operations and lodge activities.
- Oversee and manage all lodge departments, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations.
- Maintain exceptional service standards and ensure all SOPs and brand standards are consistently upheld.
- Act as lead host, driving outstanding, world-class guest experiences.
- Manage financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
- Oversee procurement, logistics, and supply chain management for remote operations.
- Ensure strict stock control and quality management across all operational areas.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team, fostering a strong and positive team culture.
- Ensure all HR policies, training, staff welfare, and performance management processes are effectively implemented.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with conservancies, partners, and relevant stakeholders.
- Support and uphold conservation and sustainability objectives.
- Work closely with senior management to ensure alignment with company strategy and long-term plans.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all operational, administrative, and financial reports.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the luxury safari lodge industry.
- At least 7-8 years in a senior operational, regional, or general management role.
- Proven experience managing remote lodges and multi-department teams.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in hospitality, tourism, conservation, or business management.
- Strong financial and operational management experience, including budgeting, cost control, and reporting.
- Experience working with conservancies, concession agreements, or community-based tourism operations is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with hospitality systems (e.g. TallOrder) is beneficial.
- Namibian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Valid driver’s license with PDP.
- First Aid Certificate.
