Opportunity | Duty Description
Purpose
To plan, build and implement innovative quantitative analytic methodologies, procedures, products and models within a broad framework in order to enhance and inform strategic decisions in the FirstRand Group
Responsibilities
- Identify, control and escalate potential risks which may lead to increased costs
- Manage costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies
- Deliver against operational and cost targets
- Prioritise resource allocation to minimise and reduce wastage
- Meet or exceed service delivery targets in support of operational objectives
- Ensure that service delivery is accurate, timeous and of a high standard
- Build professional long-term relationships with customers based on trust that builds the brand
- Offer appropriate solutions to meet customer needs
- Provide customers with relevant information to keep them informed of products and service options
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory, legislative, policy and governance requirements in area of accountability
- Ensure implementation of relevant policies, governance and practice standards across the business
- Maintain expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and internal compliance procedures and requirements
- Ensure compliance is adopted in terms of systems and procedures as laid out by organisation
- Implement and provide input into the development of governance and compliance procedures and processes within area of specialisation and identify risks
- Maintain expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and provide of advice to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain up to date knowledge of local and global trends
- Provide thought leadership and expertise
- Mine and analyse structured and unstructured data and translate it into an understandable and manageable format to inform and enable creative and effective business solutions for clients and targeted revenue growth.
- Analyse derived information to create value added insights and knowledge of the bank’s products, channels, service levels, trends or clients
- Extract and manipulate data appropriately
- Present information using data visualization techniques
- Build, test and implement models and analytical solutions that improve business outcomes i.e. reduced risk and costs, increased profitability, optimized efficiency and to facilitate strategic decision-making.
- Implement models for various problems inclusive of projections, classification, clustering, pattern analysis, sampling, simulations, and so forth.
- Transform data into information, knowledge and business insights by creating models and reports that will assist segments to fully service clients to enable client retention
- Create relevant models from data to highlight client activity and behaviour in order to provide insights for the creation of relevant business solutions and identifying target customer opportunities.
- Combine models through ensemble modelling
- Research new ways for predicting and modelling customer behavior
- Ensure all tools created and usage thereof are clearly documented to ensure business continuity and ease of use
- Manage project dependencies
- Document and audit models, projects and processes
- Translate technical information to practical business information
- Serve as SME for analytics and have a thorough understanding of identifying valuable data sources and automate collection processes

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Qualification: B. Degree Maths, Stats, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics, Physics or Actuarial Science
- Experience: 4-6 year’s relevant experience
