PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To assist the Workshop Foreman in supervising workshop personnel and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance and repair of all plant equipment in accordance with company standards, statutory requirements, and preventative maintenance schedules.

Key Responsibilities

In conjunction with the Workshop Foreman plan and co-ordinate the efficient execution of all maintenance tasks.
Allocate, monitor and follow up on Job Cards issued to Artisans, Handymen and Assistants, and provide regular progress feedback to the Workshop Foreman.
Assist with the control and management of housekeeping in all areas of responsibilities.
Monitor the productivity and efficiency of Artisans, Handymen and Assistants by ensuring maintenance work is completed within planned timeframes.
Adhere to work instructions and in conjunction with the Workshop Foreman, do risk analysis.
Perform preventative maintenance activities as scheduled through the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently while minimising equipment downtime.
Ensure accurate and timeous completion of Job Cards.
Where no Storeman is available, ensure all spare parts used are accurately recorded on the relevant Job Card.
Diagnose mechanical faults using appropriate troubleshooting techniques.
Perform repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company procedures.
Test repaired equipment before returning it to production.
Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
Execute maintenance projects and other ad hoc assignments as required.
Adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental Policies as laid down by law and the company.
Always wear proper and clean PPE as prescribed by the company.
Work area/workbench must be cleaned when job is completed.
Report and assist in investigating safety incidents and implement corrective actions where required.
Assess maintenance requirements and determine the appropriate repair method through risk assessment and planning.
Respond promptly to maintenance breakdowns and emergency callouts.
On time reporting/feedback on call-out if any occurred.
Assist the Workshop Foreman in addressing employee grievances and maintaining discipline in accordance with company policies.
Assist with performance management, coaching and development of subordinate employees.
Performing of additional tasks as and when required and performing it to best of ability and according to company standards and procedures.
Assist with the control and management of timeous attendance to call-outs by Artisans.
Provide ongoing coaching and on-the-job training to Artisans, Handymen and Assistants to enhance technical competency.

Requirements

Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with National Technical Certificate (NTS) 3/ N3 qualification or National Vocational Certificate (NVC) (Level 4) in a Mechanical Trade.
Minimum of five (5) years’ post-trade experience in a manufacturing or processing plant.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) will be an added advantage.
Namibian citizen.
Computer literacy with working knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
Proficiency in English.
Must be willing to work shifts.
Thinking skills, analysing problems, and thinking strategically.
Interpersonal skills, being a team player and resolving conflict.
Communication Skills, communicating progress orally.
