Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications do I need to become a Vehicle Sales Executive in Namibia?
Most employers, including pre-owned dealerships like Autohaus Windhoek Pre-Owned, require at least a Grade 12 (NSSCO) certificate. A diploma or certificate in sales, marketing, or automotive management from institutions like NIPAM or a TVET college is an advantage but not always mandatory. A valid Code B driver's licence and a clean driving record are typically essential since you will need to demonstrate vehicles to customers.
What does a typical day look like for a Vehicle Sales Executive?
Your day usually involves responding to customer enquiries, conducting test drives, preparing quotations, and following up on leads via phone, WhatsApp, and email. You will also inspect and present pre-owned stock, negotiate deals, and coordinate with finance and admin teams to complete sales paperwork. Meeting monthly sales targets is a core expectation.
What work culture and expectations should I be aware of in Namibia?
Namibian dealership culture values professionalism, punctuality, and strong customer relationships, often built over long-term trust with repeat buyers. Sales roles are target-driven, so you should expect some weekend work, as Saturdays are peak trading days for vehicle showrooms. Fluency in English is essential, and additional languages like Afrikaans, Oshiwambo, or German are highly valued when dealing with diverse customers.
What career growth can I expect as a Vehicle Sales Executive?
Strong performers typically progress to Senior Sales Executive, Showroom Manager, or Sales Manager roles within a few years. Some move into related areas such as fleet sales, vehicle finance, or general dealership management. Consistently meeting targets and building a loyal client base are the main drivers of advancement.
What benefits do Vehicle Sales Executives usually receive in Namibia?
Full-time positions generally include annual leave, sick leave, and contributions to a pension fund as required by Namibian labour law. Many employers also offer medical aid contributions, a basic salary plus commission structure, and sometimes a company vehicle or fuel allowance. Specific benefits vary by employer, so it's best to ask during the interview process.
How do I apply for this role, and what do employers look for?
Prepare a concise CV highlighting your sales experience, driver's licence details, and any customer-facing achievements, then apply directly through the company's website, email, or local job portals. Employers look for strong communication skills, a track record of meeting targets, and genuine enthusiasm for vehicles. Be ready for an interview that may include role-play scenarios or questions about how you would handle difficult customers.
