Most employers require a Grade 12 certificate with passes in English and Mathematics. You will spend significant time prospecting for new clients, preparing quotes, and processing claims paperwork. Administrative tasks and follow-ups with underwriters at head offices in Windhoek or other centers are also common.

Namibian employers typically expect high professionalism, punctuality, and strong relationship-building skills with diverse communities. You will often work independently with targets to meet, requiring self-motivation and resilience. Dress codes are generally formal, and fluency in English plus local languages like Afrikaans, Oshiwambo, or Damara-Nama is highly valued.

With experience and strong performance, you can advance to Senior Agent, Team Leader, or Branch Manager positions. Some agents transition into underwriting, claims management, or training roles. Building a solid client base can also lead to opportunities with larger regional insurers or starting your own brokerage.
