Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy and maintain functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) and ensure high availability and performance.
- Configure and manage servers, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and other network infrastructure.
- Administer and maintain virtual infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V or equivalent).
- Manage and support cloud-based platforms and services (Microsoft 365, Azure, or AWS).
- Maintain and administer PABX and VoIP communication systems.
- Develop and enforce IT security policies, monitor for threats, and coordinate incident response.
- Automate routine tasks and monitor system effectiveness and uptime.
- Manage IT project timelines, budgets, procurement, and documentation.
- Develop, maintain and enforce complete technical documentation and IT policies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior IT staff.
- Develop, manage, and report on the annual IT budget.
- Liaise with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders on all IT-related matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc / B.A) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
- At least one relevant professional certification, such as: CCNP, CCDP, VMware VCP, MCP, MCSE, CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
- Valid drivers license
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in IT, with at least two (2) years in a senior or lead role.
- Proven experience in network administration, infrastructure management, and applications support.
- Demonstrable experience managing IT budgets and vendor relationships.
- Advanced knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and network security best practices.
- Strong proficiency with network operating systems (Cisco IOS, HP, or equivalent).
- Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux server environments.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud) is an advantage.
- Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V or similar).
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network environments.
- Solid background in network architecture and system design.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to produce clear reports and feedback for management.
- Effective organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
- Able to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
- A valid Namibian driver’s licence.
