Key Responsibilities
- Manage workplans for Economists
- Supervise Economists activities
- Participate in fishing industry consultations
- Evaluate fishing sector’s contribution towards the national economy
- Validate socio-economic data
- Conduct socio-economic research on the management of fisheries and marine resources
- Compile socio economic Total Allowable Catch report
- Conduct fisheries socio-economic directed surveys in the international market
- Compile expiring fishing rights summaries
- Verify and monitor right holder performance
- Compile and present fisheries socio-economic reports
- Attend Regional Fisheries Management Organization and Trade Meetings
- Any other related activities that may be delegated by the Director, Deputy Director or Chief Economist.
Requirements
- An appropriate B. Degree or equivalent qualification on NQF Level 7 in Economics or Resource Economics.
- Preference will be given to candidates with at least 3 year experience in Fisheries socio-economic research. Excellent computer skills, report writing and presentation skills serves as an added advantage.
