Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications do I need to apply for healthcare vacancies at Catholic Health Services in Namibia?
Requirements depend on the specific role: nurses need registration with the Nursing Council of Namibia, doctors with the Health Professions Councils of Namibia, and support staff typically need relevant certificates or diplomas from recognised institutions. Administrative roles usually require at least a Grade 12 certificate plus relevant experience. Always check the specific vacancy advertisement for the exact minimum requirements.
What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities in these roles?
Clinical roles involve patient care, record-keeping, medication administration, and working within multidisciplinary teams, often serving communities through church-affiliated facilities. Support and administrative staff handle patient admissions, filing, procurement, and facility operations. All roles are expected to uphold the faith-based values of compassionate, ethical service delivery.
What is the work culture like at faith-based health services in Namibia?
Faith-based health facilities generally emphasise compassion, integrity, teamwork, and respect for patients regardless of background. Punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to both Ministry of Health protocols and institutional policies are strongly expected. Candidates who demonstrate commitment to community service tend to fit in well.
What career growth opportunities exist within Catholic Health Services?
Healthcare workers can progress from entry-level positions to senior clinical or supervisory roles by gaining experience and pursuing further studies, such as advanced nursing qualifications or management courses. Internal promotions are common for dedicated staff, and some institutions support further training. Building a good professional reputation within the church health network can open doors across multiple facilities.
What benefits can I expect as an employee?
Typical benefits include annual leave, sick leave, and contributions towards pension and medical aid schemes, though specifics vary by position and contract type. Some faith-based employers also offer housing allowances or study support. Confirm the exact benefits package during the interview or offer stage.
How do I apply, and what do employers look for in candidates?
Applications usually require a cover letter, updated CV, certified copies of qualifications, and proof of registration with relevant professional councils where applicable. Employers look for genuine commitment to healthcare service, relevant experience, strong references, and alignment with the organisation's values. Submit applications before the stated deadline via the contact details provided in the vacancy notice.
