Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily maintenance activities, allocate tasks and monitor work progress.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance activities according to operational priorities and schedules.
- Provide technical guidance and support in diagnosing and resolving equipment faults.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure maintenance and repairs meet required standards.
- Monitor equipment reliability and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Coach and develop maintenance personnel through on-the-job training and mentorship.
- Coordinate resources, tools and maintenance requirements to support efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards, safety procedures and statutory requirements.
Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate (20 point minimum)
- Trade Diploma or National Vocational Certificate (NQF Level 3) in Diesel/Petrol Mechanics
- Valid Code B Driver’s Licence or higher
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in the mining industry
- Minimum 5 years’ equipment maintenance experience in a mining or heavy industry environment
- Minimum 4 years’ supervisory experience
- Strong technical knowledge of mining machinery, equipment and vehicles
- Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of maintenance and machine operating procedures
- Good knowledge of mining processes and SHEQ requirements
- Strong leadership, planning and coordination abilities
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines
