MAINTENANCE FOREMAN (X2)

Most employers require a National Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field from institutions like NUST or VTCs. A minimum of 5 years' hands-on maintenance experience with 2+ years in a supervisory role is typically expected. Additional certifications in occupational health and safety, such as those from NIOSH or equivalent Namibian bodies, strengthen your application.

You will supervise maintenance teams, coordinate repair schedules, and ensure machinery and equipment operate efficiently across mining, manufacturing, or industrial sites. Daily tasks include assigning work orders, conducting safety inspections, troubleshooting breakdowns, and liaising with production managers to minimize downtime. Reporting on team performance and maintaining spare parts inventory are also core responsibilities.

Namibian industrial workplaces, particularly in mining and manufacturing, emphasize hierarchical respect and clear chain of command. Employers value punctuality, practical problem-solving, and the ability to work under pressure in remote or harsh environments. Building strong relationships with both expatriate management and local workforce is essential for effective leadership.

With proven performance, you can advance to Maintenance Manager, Plant Engineer, or Operations Manager roles within larger mining houses or industrial firms. Some professionals transition into specialized technical consulting or pursue further studies through NUST or distance learning to qualify for senior engineering positions.
