MAINTENANCE PLANNER (X2)

Most employers require a National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, plus a Trade Test certificate. Certifications in CMMS software, project management, or reliability engineering are highly advantageous. Experience in mining, manufacturing, or utilities sectors is often preferred.

You will schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities, coordinate with technicians and contractors, and manage spare parts inventory. Daily tasks include updating maintenance systems, preparing work orders, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Reporting on equipment reliability and downtime trends is also standard.

Namibian workplaces value punctuality, respect for hierarchy, and clear communication across diverse teams. Many maintenance roles operate on shift systems, especially in mining and industrial sectors. Employers expect flexibility during emergencies and strong collaboration with operations and safety departments.

With experience, you can advance to Senior Planner, Maintenance Manager, or Reliability Engineer roles. Some professionals transition into project management or operations management. Continuous learning and specialization in areas like condition monitoring can accelerate promotion.
