Key performance areas
To manage the processes, teams and resources that perform human capital advisory services. Provide advice on all human capital processes, policies and related services, contributing to operational effectiveness, client / customer satisfaction, reduced risk, profitability and compliance to relevant policies and regulatory requirements.
Duties
- Work closely with departments in a consultancy role.
- Report on exco level.
- Salary processing and completing statutory requirements like NTA, Social Security and PAYE.
- Assist line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures.
- Recruit staff: developing job descriptions, preparing advertisements, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing, and selecting candidates.
- Establish and maintain accurate job profiles and grading for all employees.
- Develop, maintain and manage the implementation of policies on issues such as working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management.
- Administrate payroll and maintaining records relating to staff.
- Promote equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation.
- Interpret and advise on employment legislation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and submit statutory reporting to deadlines.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Build and maintain relationships with union representatives and shop stewards.
- Negotiate with staff on issues relating to pay and conditions.
- Advise on pay and other remuneration issues.
- Develop with line managers, HR planning strategies.
- Facilitate and deliver training.
- Compile periodic HR related reports and report against deadlines.
- Draw up Affirmative Action plan.
- Developing motivational tools for employees.
- Employee relations.
- Employee safety, welfare, wellness and health, services and counselling.
- Assisting Financial Director with HR budgeting for the financial year.
Qualifications required
- Minimum requirement of Degree in Human Resources Management
- At least 8 years’ experience in Human Resources as generalist
- Good working knowledge of IR, the Labour Act and the disciplinary process
- Experience in working with unions
