ENROLLED NURSE GRADE 10 – Oshana Regional Council, Directorate of Health and Social Services

You need a Grade 10 certificate with passes in English, Mathematics, and Biology or Physical Science as minimum entry requirements. You must then complete a two-year Enrolled Nursing Programme at a recognized institution such as the University of Namibia or a state nursing school. Registration with the Namibia Health Professions Council is mandatory before you can practice.

You will provide basic patient care including taking vital signs, administering prescribed medications, dressing wounds, and assisting patients with daily activities. You will also document patient progress, report changes to registered nurses or doctors, and maintain hygiene standards in wards. With experience, you can advance to senior enrolled nurse positions or specialize in areas like midwifery, psychiatry, or community health through additional certifications. Many enrolled nurses later upgrade to registered nurse status by completing bridging programmes at institutions like UNAM. Some transition into nursing education, healthcare administration, or NGO work.
