CORPORATE & COMMERCIAL LEGAL PRACTITIONER (3–8 YEARS) – Engling, Stritter and Partners

A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution is essential, followed by completion of the Legal Practitioners' Qualifying Examination set by the Law Society of Namibia. Admission as a Legal Practitioner of the High Court of Namibia is mandatory, and additional certifications in corporate governance or commercial law are advantageous.

Daily tasks include drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, conducting due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, advising clients on corporate governance matters, and representing clients in negotiations. Practitioners also handle company registrations with the Business and Intellectual Property Authority and ensure compliance with Namibian company law.

Namibian law firms typically value respect for hierarchy and formal professional relationships, with senior practitioners expecting deference from junior colleagues. Punctuality and thorough preparation are highly regarded, and practitioners are expected to build long-term client relationships through personal networking and community involvement.

With 3–8 years of experience, practitioners may advance to senior associate or partner track positions within their firms. Alternative paths include transitioning to in-house legal counsel roles at major Namibian corporations, particularly in mining, banking, or telecommunications sectors, or establishing independent practices.
