Key Responsibilities

• Align the financial strategy, plans, forecasts and capital requirements with the strategic objectives of the business.
• Lead accurate and timely month-end, year-end, statutory, management and board reporting, including the delivery and interpretation of IFRS 17 results.
• Maintain effective financial controls, data integrity and compliance with applicable insurance legislation, prudential requirements, accounting standards and internal governance frameworks.
• Review and challenge actuarial results, reserving movements, valuation assumptions, claims experience and key insurance performance drivers.
• Provide clear financial insight to executive management and boards while managing relationships with regulators, auditors, actuarial teams and other key stakeholders.
• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team that demonstrates accountability, ethical judgement, technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Drive capital management, solvency oversight, liquidity planning and capital allocation decisions to support sustainable growth and regulatory compliance
• Act as a trusted adviser to the CEO and leadership team, providing commercial insight and financial guidance to support strategic decision-making
• Support product profitability, pricing decisions, reinsurance arrangements and strategic business initiatives through robust financial analysis
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling processes, incorporating claims trends, premium growth and evolving market conditions
• Lead and support the groups wider insurance entities by ensuring month end reporting and processes, budgets, board reporting are conducted in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Minimum Qualification – Chartered Accountant qualification or equivalent professional designation.
• Postgraduate qualification in Finance or Business is advantageous.
• Have at least 10 years’ finance experience in roles of increasing complexity, including senior finance leadership experience within insurance or financial services.
• Have proven experience leading finance teams and overseeing month-end, year-end, statutory, management and board reporting.
• Demonstrated IFRS 17 experience, including the interpretation of insurance financial results and engagement with actuarial valuation processes
• Have experience engaging in executive management, boards, regulators, auditors and cross-functional stakeholders in a regulated insurance environment
• Strong understanding of short-term insurance financial drivers, claims dynamics, underwriting performance and expense management.
• Advanced knowledge of IFRS 17, insurance service results, risk adjustment, contractual service margin and onerous contracts.
• Expertise in financial governance, statutory and executive reporting, control design, capital planning and data integrity.
• The ability to interrogate detailed financial and actuarial outcomes while communicating concise, commercially relevant insights.
• Credibility and influence when engaging boards, regulators, auditors and senior stakeholders.
