JOB OVERVIEW
The Biomedical Engineer has the main duties of troubleshooting, serving and assisting users by installing and servicing systems and products, keeping an inventory of all medical equipment installed in the public and private sectors, as well as meeting all the required sales targets as set in the annual plans.
The Biomedical Engineer also takes responsibility for the workshop and equipment by making sure that everything is used safely and correctly.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, test, service and maintain medical equipment (X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, infusion pumps, ventilators, defibrillators, dialysis & anaesthesia machines, etc.)
- Troubleshoot, resolve faults and ensure equipment is operational
- Maintain accurate records, reports and inventory of medical equipment
- Provide user training and support to stakeholders/users
- Ensure workshop tools, test equipment and safety standards are upheld
- Prepare quotes, process service requests and manage customer relationships
- Present, promote and sell products to existing and prospective customers
- Meet and exceed sales targets and report on activities and results
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and safety regulations
- Perform preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer recommendations
- Ensure maximum safety of all by observing safety measures and reporting hazardous conditions
- Adhere to legislation, policies and procedures in terms of safe working conditions
- Document service and installation actions through reports, logs and proper record keeping
- Maintain customer confidentiality and promote customer confidence
- Participate in training and educational opportunities to update product knowledge
- Plan and schedule sales activities, identify prospects and develop action plans
- Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports
- Develop and implement special sales activities to reduce stock
- Achieve agreed sales targets and outcomes within schedule
Requirements
- Degree in Biomedical Engineering or Clinical Engineering essential
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA), or ability to register
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a hospital or clinical environment (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of patient monitoring, life support equipment, medical imaging systems and critical care equipment
- Regional knowledge and ability to form and maintain relationships with clinical staff
- Ability to quickly develop in-depth knowledge about applicable products and markets
- Networking and IT basic knowledge for connected medical devices
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Sales experience an added advantage
- Flexibility to work late and unscheduled hours, with travel to various regions within the country required (expected overall travel to amount to approximately 50%-60% of normal working hours)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
