PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To maintain, support and improve Feedmaster’s operational technology environment, including PLCs, remote I/O, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial networks, OT servers, terminal computers, field interfaces and production-data systems. The position restores production systems safely and keeps automation reliable, secure, documented and recoverable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose OT faults across field devices, control systems, networks, servers and applications using alarms, logs, trends and diagnostic tools.
  • Maintain PLCs, safety interfaces, remote I/O and control hardware; trace I/O and logic and apply only approved changes.
  • Maintain HMIs, SCADA, historians, engineering stations and operator terminals, including communications, tags, alarms, trends and user access.
  • Support industrial networks, managed switches, gateways, fibre and copper links, OT servers, workstations, terminal PCs and secure remote access.
  • Diagnose sensors, transmitters, encoders, load cells, actuators and intelligent devices, and support loop checks and signal verification.
  • Apply OT cybersecurity, least-privilege, password, approved-media, vendor-access, network-segmentation and change-control requirements.
  • Maintain and verify backups, version control, approved baselines, recovery instructions and restore testing for critical OT systems.
  • Prepare test, rollback and acceptance plans; support commissioning and verify I/O, alarms, interlocks, permissives, trips and fail-safe actions.
  • Complete preventative maintenance, monitor system performance and recurring alarms, and track obsolescence and critical spares.
  • Maintain job cards, diagrams, I/O schedules, asset and licence records; support projects, contractors, standby and call-outs.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • National Diploma, BTech, Advanced Certificate or recognised tertiary technical qualification in IT, Networking, Information Systems, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation or a related field.
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence
  • Minimum three years’ practical experience in IT support, networking, infrastructure support, technical systems, automation/OT or a similar technology-support environment.
  • Practical experience with Windows systems, network infrastructure, technical fault-finding, user and site support, project implementation, system documentation and backups.
  • Strong computer literacy and the ability to interpret technical documentation, network diagrams, manuals and equipment specifications.
  • Namibian citizen
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Willing to travel between sites and work shifts, overtime, weekends, standby and call-outs when required.
