ARTISAN: FITTER & TURNER – FeedMaster (Pty) Ltd

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical breakdowns, repair or replace worn components, test-run equipment and verify safe operation.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on bearings, drives, shafts, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps and rotating equipment.
• Operate approved lathes, milling machines, drills and grinders to manufacture or repair shafts, bushes, pins, sleeves, spacers, keys and threads.
• Measure completed work accurately and confirm required dimensions, fits, clearances and tolerances.
• Install bearings, seals, couplings, pulleys, sprockets and drive assemblies, and perform shaft, coupling, pulley and belt alignment.
• Maintain pumps, fans, blowers, mixers, conveyors, elevators and gearboxes, including belts, chains, seals and sprockets.
• Inspect and repair approved hydraulic and pneumatic components, safely depressurise systems and prevent contamination.
• Monitor vibration, noise, temperature, leakage, lubrication and deterioration, and support root-cause analysis and reliability improvements.
• Complete job cards and handovers accurately, control tools and spares, support shutdowns and participate in standby and call-outs.
• Apply risk assessments, permits, isolation, lifting and rigging requirements, guarding and prescribed PPE at all times.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• National Vocational Certificate Level 4 in Fitting, Fitting and Turning, Mechanical Engineering or a related trade.
• A recognised Trade Test Certificate as a Fitter or Fitter and Turner is compulsory.
• Valid Code BE driver’s licence – compulsory.
• Namibian Citizen
• Language proficiency in English – written and spoken
• Minimum three years’ relevant post-trade or practical experience in a manufacturing, milling, processing, agricultural, mining or industrial plant environment.
• Experience with conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and rotating equipment.
• Experience using lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, precision measuring instruments and related workshop equipment.
• Willing and able to work shifts, overtime, standby and call-outs when required
• Physically fit to work at heights, in confined spaces and in demanding plant environments.
