Key Responsibilities
- Support and review municipal budgets, budget processes and practices
- Analyse and report on municipal budget submissions and related documents
- Provide guidance and technical support to municipalities on budget management
- Assist in the improvement of municipal budget processes, compliance, and reporting
- Compile and analyse municipal financial and budgetary data
- Facilitate training and workshops on municipal budgeting
- Monitor and evaluate municipal budget implementation progress
- Support the implementation of budget reforms in municipalities
Requirements
- A Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6/7) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Public Management or similar
- 3 years’ experience in budgeting/financial management within the public sector (preferably in local government)
- Understanding of MFMA and local government budgetary frameworks and processes
- Analytical and report-writing skills
- Computer literacy
