The (ICAN) is the professional body responsible for advancing the accountancy profession in Namibia. ICAN supports its members through education, training, and continuous professional development, while upholding ethical standards and promoting the value of the Chartered Accountant [CA(NAM)] designation in contributing to the country’s economic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an educational and training expert representative across stakeholders.
- Oversee Education, Examinations and Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Provide technical support to relevant committees (Education, Examination, Training & Development, Career Guidance).
- Providing technical leadership and support to the Education & Examinations Committee, Training & Development Committee, and Youth Committee.
- Managing professional examinations (IAC & APC), including administration, regulations, adjudication of results, and correspondence.
- Developing and maintaining the CPD programme and calendar, and engaging facilitators.
- Representing ICAN in education and training matters with stakeholders such as PAAB, IFAC, and PAFA.
- Driving thought leadership, drafting articles and communications related to education and professional development.
- Supporting the CEO in securing the future of the CA profession and ensuring compliance with regional and international membership obligations.
- Contributing to strategic initiatives, legislation consultations, and the annual integrated report.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Commerce / Chartered Accountancy / Finance.
- Chartered Accountant qualification (added advantage).
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Confident and persuasive presentation skills.
- Strong stakeholder relationship-building ability.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- High level of drive (individual and team environments).
- Understanding of membership-based organisations.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Passion for education, professional development or training.
