Duties and Responsibilities
- As a Finance Manager at Buks Haulage (Pty) Ltd, you will play a key role in the company. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Planning cashflow for the month
- Ensuring vendor accounts get paid timely
- Customer payment collection on a monthly basis
- Reviewing work performed by other finance team members
- Daily bank balance reports to holding company
- Assisting with onboarding procedures for new customers
- Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts aligned with company strategy and operational needs
- Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to estimate revenues and costs
- Monitor and control operational costs (fuel, maintenance, tolls, labour, etc.)
- Analyse route profitability, vehicle utilization
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local regulations
- Present reports to management and the board
14. Ensure VAT, PAYE, income tax, and customs duties are correctly calculated and submitted to SARS.
15. Liaise with SARS on audits and disputes.
16. Ensure compliance with Companies Act, B-BBEE regulations, and any transport-specific legislation.
17. Monitor depreciation, financing, and maintenance costs of vehicles.
18. Oversee insurance coverage for fleet, cargo, and operations.
19. Assess financial impact of transport risks (accidents, theft, delays).
20. Train staff on financial systems, controls, and compliance.
21. Oversee implementation or upgrades of financial and fleet management systems.
22. Ensure integration of logistics data with financial reporting.
23. Establish robust internal controls.
24. Liaise with internal and external auditors.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting

Must have completed SAICA articles (audit experience)

Financial statements compilation experience

5-10 years’ experience in a Financial Management role

Advantageous if you have experience in a logistics, supply chain or transport related company

Strong experience with budgeting, financial reporting, cost management and internal controls

Knowledge of IFRS (International financial reporting standards)

Understanding of tax laws and compliance requirements in South Africa

Knowledge of South African Financial regulations
