COPY EDITOR/PROOFREADER – NEW ERA

VACANCY 

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for processing story and feature articles received from the Editors before it is sent for design and layout, to ensure that it is grammatically and factually correct.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Edit news copy for grammar, style and context

• Proof copy for grammar, style and context

• Check news copy against libelous statements

• Ensure news reports are objective, balanced and factual

• Craft compelling headlines for stories

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Degree [NQA Level 7] in Media Studies or related field

• Five (5) years relevant working experience

COMPETENCY/SKILLS

• Excellent command of the English language

• High aptitude of English grammar and a broad general knowledge on current affairs

• High degree of integrity, time management

• Excellent writing skills

• Self-motivated

• Nose for news

• Computer literacy

• Ability to work under pressure and during weekends

• Photography skills

• Knowledge of media ethics
