Institute, a registered society) is looking for a Director for the Finland Southern Africa Institute located in Windhoek, Namibia. The position is fixed-term until the end of 2025 with a possibility of extension. Finland Southern Africa Institute’s mission is to promote collaboration between Finnish actors in science, culture, education, and business
and their counter parts in Southern African countries. The institute is currently being established, and the operations are planned to beginin autumn 2025. The Institute Director will have a unique opportunity to influence the strategic development of the institute and to launch its practical activities.

Job Description

As the Director,you will be responsible for the strategic development of the institute, operational management, and expanding networks. Your role will involve promoting cultural activities, scientific research and collaboration at both local and international levels. You will lead a team, develop funding opportunities, and enhance the institute’s societal impact.
The institute aims to have an active role in the Finnish Science and Culture Institutes Network funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

We Expect From You

• A doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) is required
• Strong experience in collaborative international projects in the fields of culture, education,science or business co-operation
• Leadership experience with a proven track record in organizational development
Excellent collaboration, communication, facilitation and negotiation skills
• International networks
• Familiarity with the working culture of Southern Africa is considered an asset
• Energy, determination, and vision to successfully fulfil the role
