Purpose of the Job
The Meatco Board of Directors is seeking a strategic leader to drive and implement the strategies developed in line with the mandate of the Meatco Act and as agreed with the Meatco Board. In broad terms, this will include leadership of the Meatco Executive team and senior staff, ensuring sufficient raw material supply, maintaining the highest production and quality standards in production, whilst growing the Meatco brand in local, regional and international market. The incumbent is expected to drive the Vision, mission and values of the organization as an employer of choice and manage the business sustainably for the long-term benefit of the Namibian livestock sector.
Key Performance Areas
- To professionally lead the corporation, provide the best quality service for its stakeholders and ensure overall growth for the business by implementing the strategic goals and objectives of the Company.
- To provide strategic leadership, direction and performance coaching to the Executive Management team under the guidance of the Board of Directors.
- Drive the annual budgeting and strategic review processes.
- Manage the organisation in accordance with principles of good corporate governance.ensuring sound financial, social and environmental processes and outputs.
- Liaise and manage both primary and secondary external stakeholder relationships (i.e. Producers/Suppliers/ Customers/ and Government).
- Plan, control and direct tasks and processes to monitor the organisation’s output
- Critically analyse and assess information to be able to take the right decisions and lead the organisation mto prosperity.
- Resource management and organisational development.
- Motivate and develop personnel to attract and retain a skilled managerial team.
- Communicate regularly internally and externally on the strategic direction of the Corporation in order to keep producersand employees well informed.
Competency and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, agriculture and / or finance.
- A Master of Business Administration will be an added advantage.
- At least 10 years’ experience at a Senior Executive level (preferably CEO/MD)
- Proven leadership and strategic planning capabilities, ideally on an international level, in a complex environment in the meat processing industry.
- Experience in aligning goals and objectives with organizational capacity and fiscal, political, and human resources, financial acumen, with the ability to oversee the budget of a complex co-operation.
- Fearless and confident to make the tough calls while being sensitive to the uniquely Namibian business environment
- Change management and business re-engineering experience will be considered an added benefit.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.persuasran and negotiation abil rty with a proven track record of having engaged with government, regulators and public stakeholders.
- Experience in one or more of the following industries:
- – Food production and manufacturing, specifically related to highly perishable food production and/or/ FMCG with strict health & safety standards.
- Good global and local livestock industry knowledge.
- International export marketing experience.
- Experience in the southern African Agricultural sector would be beneficial.
- Sense of urgency, being conscious of priorities with the ability to ensure execution of strategy with the required results.
- Excellent conflict handling skills.
- Must be an assertive, result-driven, and commercially astute leader.
Remuneration and other
- The remuneration and other service benefits of the CEO is determined by the Board with the concurrence of the relevant Minister, with due regard to any directives laid down by the Minister under section 4(l)(e) of the PEGA.
- Market related with a performance-based component
- Conditions of MEATCO employment will apply
- Preference will be given to Namibian citizens.
Selection process
- The Meatco Board of Directors (or delegate) will spearhead the selection process.
- Shortlisted candidates may be required to deliver a presentation, through which they will be afforded an opportunity to demonstrate their preparedness, their promise and their excellence for the challenging position of CEO.
- Additionally, short-listed candidates shall be subjected to psychometric assessments as well as a competency and behaviour-based interview process.
- The top candidate recommended will be subjected to a vetting process
- The successful candidate will be appointed to hold office for a period of five years and may be eligible for re-appointment at the discretion of the MeatCo Board.
