Job description

• Set up water heaters, pumps, and other plumbing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, water pressure problems, and faulty appliances.
• Repair or replace damaged pipes faucets, toilets, showers, and other plumbing fixtures.
• Perform routine maintenance to prevent future plumbing problems including cleaning drains and inspecting systems for wear and tear.
• Ensure all plumbing systems are working within local codes and regulations.
• Install and maintain water treatment systems to ensure clean and safe water for the building occupants.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste and maintain sewer lines to prevent backups and blockages.
• Communicate with clients to assess plumbing issues and provide recommendations for repairs or installations.
• Provide estimates for labor and materials required for plumbing work.
• Explain plumbing work performed to customers and offer maintenance tips to prolong the life of plumbing systems.

• Respond to emergency plumbing calls such as water leaks, pipe bursts, or sewer backups, and perform immediate repairs to minimize damage.

Requirements

• Diploma or equivalent vocational training or apprenticeship in plumbing is often required.
• 7 years of hands-on experience as an apprentice or journeyman plumber may be necessary for advanced positions.
• Experience in multi-story building construction and experience in working for large projects costing over N$200 million.
