The Bank of Namibia was established as the central Bank of Namibia under the Bank of Namibia Act, 2020. The Act makes the Board responsible for determining the general polices, the internal controls, risk management, general administration, and any other functions conferred on the Board by the Act or any other law
In pursuit of its vision to be a centre of excellence, the Bank of Namibia desires to appoint and now invites a suitably competent and qualified Charted Accountant to apply for an appointment to serve on its Board of Directors.
Board of Directors
The candidate must have the following qualification and competencies:
• A Chartered Accountant;
• Registered in terms of the Public Accountants and Auditor’s Act;
• A minimum of 7 years of experience,
• Be a fit and proper person;
• Possess proven knowledge and experience to the field of economics and finance.
• Not be disqualified for appointment as a Member of the Board,
• Extensive experience of serving as a Director of a company.
In addition, it is expected from Board members to contribute in the following areas:
• Strategy Formulation – to constructively challenge ideas and contribute to the development of strategic and business plans of the Bank;
• Performance Management and Accountability – scrutinise the performance of the Bank against its agreed-upon strategic objectives and focus areas and monitor the reporting of performance,
• Financial and Operation Information – ability to understand, review and scrutinise financial information and operation information;
• Transformation Leadership – demonstrate leadership qualities and promote effective working relationships among Board Members to foster and observe mutual respect Can inspire positive changes for others to follow,
• Audit Practises – understand the principles and practises of audits and risk management and provide functional support;
• Governance – ensure that governance, internal control and risk management systems are effective and capable of delivering relevant, accurate and timely management and financial information to the Board.
