The Namibia Red Cross Society (NRCS) is known for its work across the country both at national and grassroots levels. As the only humanitarian organization in Namibia, the National Society Is committed to provide excellent humanitarian services to those affected by disasters such as droughts, seasonal floods, HIV and AIDS, food insecurity and others such as the COVID 19 Pandemic. Although the NRCS headquarters is in Windhoek, it is operational in 11 regions of the country.
VACANCIES
We are looking to recruit a highly competent and motivated candidate to fill the following position:
Position: Resource Mobilisation and Communications Manager
Duty Station: Windhoek
Contract Duration: Five (5) years with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds
Job Summary
To provide strategic leadership and operational management for resource mobilisation and communications of the national society. To manage a small staff complement and coordinate the work of the Communications Department with that of Programmes and projects. To work in coordination with the NRC regional structures. Current NRC programme areas include Disaster Management; Health & Social Services; Livelihoods & Food Security; Humanitarian Advocacy and Organisational Development. The position reports to the Secretary General and forms part of the senior management team.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic resource mobilisation and communications leadership for the national society, under the auspices of the NRC overall strategy
- Support the Programmes Manager with the operationalization of the resource mobilisation strategy for programs and projects strategically and technically
- Lead the operationalization of the resource mobilisation at national and regional levels with particular strategy and implementation plans for strong support at the regional resource mobilisation level.
Manage budgets, monitor expenditure and costs against delivered and realized outputs
Promote the public image of the NRC, ensure strong visibility in local and international media through proactive media engagement
Develop and leverage networks for resource mobilisation and communication
Manage stakeholder relationships and support the office of the SG with humanitarian diplomacy engagements and advocacy
Positive relationship development with and leveraging of the relationship of the national society with peer national Red Cross/Red Crescent societies and the International federation (IFRC) communications and resource mobilisation teams
- Staying abreast of critical developments, monitoring local and social media, integrate data from the projects’ community engagement and feedback mechanisms to communicate the humanitarian impact of the work of NRC and to inform and support the development of the strategic programmatic outlook of NRC
- Engage with stakeholders at diplomatic, government/ official, corporate executive, philanthropic and international funding institutional levels and in the local and International NGO/CBO landscape
- Anticipate, identify and flag reputational risk issues and develop and implemented appropriate responses and mitigating actions
- Provide strategic leadership and operational manager for the RM & C department, building up its capacity and establishing it as a strong entity in the NRC
Minimum Education and Experience:
- An advanced university Degree in Management / Strategy / Corporate Communications / International Cooperation and Development
- More than five (5) years’ experience in developing, leading and managing communications strategy, stakeholder engagement and resource mobilisation /fundraising
- Proven experience in the following areas
o project proposal writing and fundraising,
o report writing,
o public relations management and corporate communications
o strategic level-thinking and operational level implementation capability
o staff capacity development in this field
- A valid driving license
