UTILITY DRIVER – Orano Mining Namibia

You typically need a valid Namibian Code CE or Code 14 driver's license with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP). A Grade 12 certificate is usually required, and additional certifications like defensive driving or dangerous goods handling are advantageous. Some employers also require a medical fitness certificate and security clearance due to the nature of mining operations.

You will transport personnel, equipment, and materials across mine sites and sometimes to remote locations. Daily tasks include vehicle inspections, maintaining logbooks, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. You may also assist with basic vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues promptly.

Namibian mining operations often run on rotational shift systems, commonly 2 weeks on and 1 week off or similar FIFO arrangements. Punctuality, strict adherence to safety regulations, and respect for hierarchy are highly valued in this environment. You will be expected to work independently while maintaining clear communication with dispatch and supervisors.

With experience, you can advance to senior driver positions, transport coordinator, or fleet supervisor roles. Some drivers transition into logistics management, safety officer positions, or specialized equipment operation with additional training. Pursuing further certifications in supply chain management or occupational health and safety can accelerate your career growth.

Contract positions usually include accommodation and meals during site rotations, transport to and from site, and basic medical coverage.
