UTILITY DRIVER – Orano Mining Namibia

You typically need a valid Namibian Code CE or Code 10 driver's license with a professional driving permit (PrDP). A Grade 12 certificate is usually required, and additional certifications like defensive driving or dangerous goods handling are advantageous.

You will transport personnel, equipment, and materials across mine sites and sometimes to remote locations. Daily duties include vehicle inspections, maintaining logbooks, adhering to safety protocols, and ensuring timely deliveries in challenging terrain.

Expect rotational shift work, often 2-4 weeks on-site followed by equal time off, especially at remote mines like those in the Erongo Region. Namibian mining culture emphasizes strict safety compliance, punctuality, and respect for hierarchical reporting structures.

With experience, you can advance to senior driver roles, fleet supervisor, or logistics coordinator positions. Some drivers transition into heavy equipment operation or safety officer roles after obtaining additional certifications.
