A Grade 10 certificate is commonly required, and some employers prefer candidates with a valid Namibian driver's licence (Code 1 or 2) for yard movement. While formal logistics qualifications aren't mandatory, completion of a recognised occupational safety course (e.g., NIOSH or Namibian Safety Council short course) is increasingly valued by employers in the logistics sector.

You’ll inspect, weigh, and load animal feed bags or bulk product into trucks under supervision, verify manifests, and maintain loading bay cleanliness and safety compliance. Shifts often align with production schedules — including early mornings or rotating shifts — and adherence to Namibian OSH Act regulations and company-specific hygiene protocols (e.g., dust control, PPE use) is strictly enforced.

Teamwork and respect for hierarchy are highly valued; supervisors are typically addressed formally, and punctuality is non-negotiable due to tight transport schedules across long distances. Employers expect reliability, physical stamina, and willingness to work outdoors in variable Namibian weather — from hot, dry conditions in the central regions to coastal fog in Walvis Bay.

With experience and demonstrated reliability, loaders may progress to roles such as Loading Supervisor, Yard Coordinator, or Logistics Assistant — especially if they obtain Namibian qualifications like the NQF Level 4 Certificate in Supply Chain Operations. Some advance into transport coordination or internal safety officer support roles after completing relevant SETA-accredited short courses.
