TEMPORARY COMPLIANCE OFFICER: MONITORING

Fixed-term Contract (12 months) (Paterson Grade C3)

The Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA) is a regulator established by virtue of BIPA Act No. 8 of 2016 to facilitate and promote the efficient and effective registrations of business and intellectual property in Namibia. BIPA is an equal-opportunity employer and invites competent & suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following position:

Duty Station	WINDHOEK
Primary Purpose	To facilitate and coordinating with company management to identify potential risks, implementing policies and procedures to uphold laws and regulations, and monitoring the company’s adherence to those policies and procedures preserve the statutory integrity of BIPA.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience	Bachelor’s Degree in finance or Law (NQF Level 7) 3 years in the corporate environment At least 1 year experience as an Assistant Compliance Officer A qualification in Compliance Management would be an advantage.
Certification / registration required	Driver’s License Code B
Key Responsibilities	Draft and revise company policies; Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals; Develop and maintain effective compliance reporting procedure Identify and effectively address regulatory reporting requirement Establish time frames and frequency for compliance reports Ensure relevant reporting and interactions with other regulators Develop the format and content requirements for compliance report Oversee, manage and implement the monitoring system; Provide assurance on high-risk requirements; Evaluate business activities (e.g. registrations) to assess compliance risk Inspect business premises to ensure compliance Annual Returns – Sample Compliance Review Ensure that controls designed to protect the organisation against non-compliance are adequate and effective Review the integrity and effectiveness of the compliance system Consider the input of management and be formally presented to the governance structure for their approval Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them; Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses. Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance
