TEMP EXPLORATION GEOLOGIST – Consolidated Copper 4 views

Key Responsibilities

• Prepares and present detailed annual drilling plans and budgets to senior management for approval, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with mine objectives.
• Analyses controls of mineralization, interpreting the distribution and continuity of ore body/shoots across and along plunge directions to define target areas for drilling.
• Compiles the Exploration and Ore Reserves sections of the annual Life of Mine Report and present to the Technical Services Manager for approval
• Logs and scrutinizes drill core daily, identifying rock types, mineralization, and faults, and record findings in rough core logs to determine assay sampling intervals.
• Develops, implements, and enforces safe work procedures for drilling, core handling, and site inspections
• Validates the data and updates the database with no errors
• Ensures drilling operations adhere to environmental regulations set by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and OML policies/procedures.
• Provides mentorship, technical guidance, and on-the-job training to Junior Geologists and Technical Services Operators to build departmental expertise and ensure continuity of geological knowledge.

Requirements

• A relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Geology NQF 7-8
• 2-5 years’ proven experience as a Geologist in a base metal mining environment.
• Computer literacy in MS Office, geological software experience i.e Surpac, Grade Runner, Minesight, Datamine and GIS
• Database management, modelling skills, grade control
• Drilling and sampling experience
• Good scientific and technical skills, report writing, good observation skills; strong spoken and written communication skills
• Mineralization controls and ore shoot distribution
• Diamond and RC drilling techniques and geological data analysis
• Health, safety, and environmental regulations
• JORC/SAMREC standards for reserve and resource reporting
• Industry literature on drilling and rock-consolidation methods
• Computer literacy in MS Office and GIS applications and database management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Core and RC logging and assay interval determination
• Interpretation of geological plans and 3D model
• A detailed CV
