Technician: Control & Instrumentation (x4)
Location: Husab Site, Swakopmund Reports to the Team Leader: Control & Instrumentation
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To co-ordinate and provide Control & Instrumentation maintenance services, including the, installation and commission of plant production equipment to ensure maximum availability and development of instrumentation equipment and control systems.
Key Performance Areas:
- Performs inspections, maintenance, diagnosis, fault finding, repairs, and installation of instrumentation equipment in the area of accountability.
- Monitors, benchmarks and evaluates technology to ensure continuous improvements.
- Effects the implementation of new equipment and systems, taking cognizance of specifications.
- Optimizes the performance of equipment by monitoring the effectiveness and making corrective recommendations.
- Co-ordinates and effects the monitoring, installation, service, and reconditioning of a variety of equipment, instruments, and control systems.
- Coordinate and ensures technical availability to achieve optimal efficiencies on control gear/instrumentation, associated defined equipment and systems, and ensures availability of critical spares for all process control equipment.
- Maintains all required documentation, e.g. circuit diagrams, sequence tables, logic diagrams, making use of the appropriate software.
- Maintains a software backup of the control system and all relevant equipment requiring software downloads in the event of failure.
- Proactively partakes in the planning, installation, and commissioning of projects.
- Identifies, plans, and executes C&I projects in line with Swakop Uranium (SU) accepted project management principles to enhance, improve, and optimize operations.
- Provides administrative service to the designated section, taking cognizance of information availability and accuracy requirements.
Requirements and experience:
- National Technical Diploma (N6) with a National Vocational Trade Certificate Level 3 in Instrumentation/Electrical light current; OR National Engineering Diploma T4/S3 in Instrumentation/Automation/ Electronics.
- Candidates with a National Technical Diploma (N6) with Trade Certificate must have 3 -5 years post apprenticeship experience in an engineering environment;
- Candidate with National Engineering Diploma T4/S3 must have at least 2 years post qualification experience in the engineering field.
- Experience on Rockwell equipment (PLC Basics, Hardware Configuration, CMs, EM’s, EP’s)
- Experience in SCADA (Basics, SCR deployment, Server Backups, Client set-up) PLC Coding, Historian Server (Overview, Tag, Data)
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
