THE POSITION
Terminal Investment Namibia (TIN) is seeking an experienced and results-driven Technical Manager to lead the technical operations of a busy container terminal. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, maintenance, and continuous improvement of engineering systems, equipment, and infrastructure that support terminal operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing asset performance, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the organization’s growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Promote a strong safety culture through engineering controls, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure TIN is fully aligned with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code.
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies.
- Monitor equipment performance and reliability to minimize downtime.
- Lead fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and resolution of technical issues.
- Oversee inspections, maintenance programs, and lifecycle planning for all technical assets, including civil infrastructure.
- Utilize CMMS systems to track maintenance activities and performance indicators.
- Optimize procurement processes and contract management activities.
- Monitor asset lifecycle costs and replacement forecasts.
- Manage contractors and suppliers to ensure service quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead, coach, and develop multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Drive performance management and employee development initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Business Management will be a distinct advantage.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience specifically in Port or Terminal Operations.
- Minimum of 10 years’ executive and managerial experience specifically in container terminal operations
- Proven experience in logistics and port operations is mandatory.
