TEACHER (LIFE SKILLS GRADE 8-10) – Mariental Secondary School

You typically need a recognised teaching qualification such as a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or a diploma in education with a specialisation in Life Skills, Life Orientation, or a related field. You must also be registered or eligible for registration with the Namibian National Council for Higher Education and the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture.

You will plan and deliver lessons covering topics like personal development, health, relationships, career guidance, and civic responsibility according to the Namibian curriculum. You will also assess learners, maintain records, and provide pastoral support or guidance to students.

Teachers are expected to be punctual, professional, and actively involved in school activities beyond the classroom, such as staff meetings, extramural duties, and parent consultations. Respect for the Ministry of Education's policies, learner discipline, and teamwork with colleagues is strongly emphasised.

With experience and further studies, you can progress to Head of Department, Senior Teacher, or Principal roles within a school. You may also move into advisory or curriculum development positions within the Ministry of Education or regional education directorates.
