The incumbent will report to the Senior Engineer: Hot Metals and be accountable for:
SUPERVISOR: MECHANICAL (HOT METALS)
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Legal, Safety, Health and Environmental compliance as well as promoting a safety culture
in the area of responsibility.
• Improve plant availability and reliability through quality maintenance and application of
appropriate engineering standards.
• Effective supervision, leading team members, managing the budget and other resources
in areas of accountability to achieve company goals.
• Maintain a strong planning orientation and compliance with the planning system of the
company.
• Maintain a strong production focus and provide feedback to stakeholders on work done
and proactively identify areas to prevent unplanned stoppages.
• Effective teamwork and coordination with all stakeholders.
• Ensure reports/timesheets/paperwork are accurately completed and on time.
• Facilitate the ongoing development of knowledge, skills and personal growth of team
members.
• Ensure compliance with the company policies and rules and lead by example by living the
company’s values, mission and vision.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• An N3 Trade Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent.
• A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.
• A minimum ten (10) years relevant post-trade test work experience is required; of which
a minimum of 5 years should be on supervisory level. Candidates with more relevant
experience will have an added advantage.
• Maintenance experience in a heavy process plant, mining, steel, or factory industry.
Experience in a crushing/communition and furnace environment will be an added
advantage.
• Knowledge and familiarity of working with maintenance management systems (Maximo,
SAP, etc.)
• Safety training certification such as SAMTRAC or equivalent will be an added
advantage.
• Strong leadership on safety and hands-on experience.
• Strong people and cost management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, with good Excel skills.
• Code B Driver’s License
